"Mickey Maurer" is an entrepreneur from Indianapolis (with a very long list of involvement's and accomplishments !) where he lives with his wife Janie. They have three children and eight grandchildren.
In addition to "19 Stars of Indiana", he is also the author of Water Colors, the underwater photography of his adventures on the ocean floor. Mickey enjoys woodworking and mountain climbing; he successfully summited Mount Kilimanjaro. His travels to dive have taken him around the world including the Galapagos Islands, New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Belize and Bonaire. His crossword puzzles have appeared regularly in the The New York Times.
Mickey served as Indiana Secretary of Commerce under Governor Mitch Daniels. The Indiana University School of Law has recently been renamed the Maurer School of Law in his honor. Among many other accomplishments, he is chairman of the board of IBJ Corp.; owner and publisher of the Indianapolis Business Journal, Court and Commercial Record and Indiana Lawyer; and chairman of the board for The National Bank of Indianapolis, which he co-founded in 1993. He is a regular columnist for the Indianapolis Business Journal and the host of "Mickey's Corner", a televised Emmy Award winning interview talk show. And ...not a surprise...he is on the "Wall of Fame" of his alma mater North Central High School in Indianapolis.
